Terms of participation
Festival der Zukunft 2027 · as of 31 October 2026 · This is a translation; the German version is binding.
1. Organiser and scope
The organiser is 1E9 Denkfabrik GmbH, Spitzwegstraße 4, 81373 Munich, Germany, represented by its managing directors Wolfgang Kerler and Krischan Lehmann, Munich Local Court HRB 24847, festival@1e9.community. These terms apply to the purchase of tickets for the Festival der Zukunft 2027 (1–4 July 2027, Deutsches Museum, Munich; ticketed conference on 1 and 2 July) via festivalderzukunft.com – for consumers and businesses alike. Deviating terms of the buyer do not apply unless we expressly agree. For a 1E9 membership booked together with tickets, section 9 and the 1E9 terms (1e9.community/agb) also apply.
2. Conclusion of contract
The tickets shown in the ticket machine are not a legally binding offer but an invitation to place an order. By clicking the order button expressly marked as subject to payment you place a binding order; the contract is concluded as soon as we accept your order on the confirmation page or by email.
For free orders (e.g. with a seat or gift code) the contract is concluded when you click the correspondingly marked order button. We store the order data. You receive confirmation, invoice and tickets by email.
3. Prices and payment
All prices include 19 % German VAT. The price of the price tier valid at the time of the order applies. Payment is processed by Stripe Payments Europe Ltd., Dublin, Ireland, with the payment methods offered at checkout; for purchase on account or instalments (e.g. Klarna, Billie) the terms of that provider apply in addition. The invoice is sent by email.
Discounts (member price, team discount, codes) cannot be combined; per ticket the higher one applies. Codes are valid only as stated, cannot be paid out in cash and may be limited in number.
4. Tickets and proof of eligibility
Tickets are issued once payment has been received (for SEPA direct debit once the money has arrived) and sent by email. Each ticket is personalised; its QR code grants single entry.
Reduced tickets (e.g. Student) require that the eligibility exists at the time of the event; the proof must be shown at entry on request. Whoever buys at the member price confirms having an active 1E9 membership at the time of the order, unless the membership is booked together with the ticket.
If eligibility cannot be proven, we will, where possible, allow you to provide the proof later or to pay the difference to the regular price of the same price tier. If that is not possible, we may refuse entry.
5. Changes and transfer
Name, company and position on the ticket and badge can be changed via the personal badge link until the festival; changes made at short notice may no longer appear on the printed badge. Via “Transfer ticket” a ticket can be transferred to another person; the previous ticket link then becomes invalid.
Commercial resale and resale above the price originally paid are not permitted. In the event of a proven violation, we may block the ticket concerned after prior review. The statutory rights of good-faith acquirers and other mandatory statutory claims remain unaffected. Using tickets for prize draws or similar promotions by partners requires our prior consent.
6. Right of withdrawal for tickets (voluntary)
By law there is no right of withdrawal for event tickets with a fixed date (§ 312g (2) no. 9 German Civil Code). We nevertheless voluntarily grant you a 14-day right of withdrawal: you can withdraw from your ticket purchase within 14 days of the conclusion of the contract without giving reasons, at the latest until the festival begins. An email to festival@1e9.community with your name and order is sufficient. We refund the price paid for the tickets concerned within 14 days via the original means of payment; the tickets then become invalid. Discounts that depended on the number of tickets (team discount) are recalculated for the remaining tickets.
Instead of withdrawing, you can also transfer a ticket to another person at any time (section 5).
7. Programme changes, cancellation, postponement
Programme, speakers, schedule and rooms may change as long as the overall character of the festival and the essential agreed services are not significantly impaired. There is no right to specific speakers or individual contributions.
Cancellation: If the festival is cancelled entirely and no replacement date is offered, we refund the ticket price paid in full, via the original means of payment unless agreed otherwise.
Postponement: If the festival is moved to another date or venue, tickets remain valid for the replacement date or the new venue. If you cannot attend, you may request a refund of the ticket price within four weeks of our announcement of the postponement; we will explain how with the announcement.
Significant changes or partial cancellation: If essential parts of the festival are cancelled or it is shortened considerably, we refund an appropriate part of the ticket price, taking into account the extent of the services not provided and the remaining value of the event.
Statutory claims for damages or reimbursement of expenses remain unaffected in accordance with section 10. A cancellation, postponement or programme change does not in itself give rise to a claim for travel or accommodation costs.
8. On site, exclusion and recordings
House rules and conduct: The house rules of the Deutsches Museum apply. We may refuse entry or exclude people from the event who carry dangerous objects, are in a state that suggests a considerable danger to themselves or others, or seriously disturb the event despite being asked to stop. Any exclusion takes the circumstances of the individual case into account and must be proportionate. If it is based on an important reason for which the person concerned is responsible, there is no claim to a refund of the ticket price; statutory claims remain unaffected.
Photo, film and audio recordings: During the festival, we and photographers and film crews commissioned by us take photos, video and, where applicable, audio recordings. We use general overview and event shots to document and report on the festival and for public relations on the basis of our legitimate interest (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR), taking the interests and rights of the people shown into account. For targeted individual shots, interviews, testimonials or similar recordings that feature a person prominently, we generally ask for separate consent unless another suitable legal basis applies.
If you do not want to appear in recordings or wish to object to their use, please tell our team on site or write to festival@1e9.community. Where processing is based on legitimate interests, you have the right to object on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR). More on storage, recipients and your rights in our privacy policy.
9. 1E9 membership booked at checkout
The annual 1E9 membership costs €75 a year incl. VAT. It is a separate contract with 1E9 Denkfabrik GmbH, paid in advance via Stripe; its benefits are described at 1e9.community/jetzt-1e9-mitglied-werden. The membership is a voluntary add-on and is only concluded if you expressly select it at checkout. The member price applies to tickets in the same order and is already taken into account in the ticket order.
The first membership year runs from the conclusion of the contract and is fixed. After that the membership continues indefinitely and can be cancelled at any time with one month’s notice. Fees paid in advance for periods after the cancellation takes effect are refunded pro rata. You can cancel via the Stripe customer portal or by email to festival@1e9.community.
Right of withdrawal for the membership: You have the right to withdraw from the membership contract within fourteen days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period is fourteen days from the day the contract is concluded. To exercise it, you must inform us (1E9 Denkfabrik GmbH, Spitzwegstraße 4, 81373 Munich, festival@1e9.community) by a clear statement (e.g. letter or email) of your decision to withdraw. You may use the model withdrawal form below, but you do not have to. To meet the deadline, it is sufficient to send the notice before the withdrawal period expires.
Consequences of withdrawal: If you withdraw from the membership contract, we refund all payments received from you for the membership without undue delay and at the latest within fourteen days of receiving your notice, using the same means of payment as in the original transaction unless expressly agreed otherwise. If you expressly requested that we begin providing the membership services during the withdrawal period and you then withdraw, you pay us a reasonable amount corresponding to the share of the services provided until the withdrawal in relation to the total scope of the contract.
Model withdrawal form: To 1E9 Denkfabrik GmbH, Spitzwegstraße 4, 81373 Munich, festival@1e9.community – I/We (*) hereby withdraw from the contract concluded by me/us (*) for the provision of the following service: 1E9 membership · Ordered on (*) / concluded on (*) · Name of consumer(s) · Address of consumer(s) · Signature of consumer(s) (only if on paper) · Date. (*) Delete as appropriate.
10. Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the Product Liability Act, for fraudulent concealment of a defect and where we have given a guarantee. For slight negligence we are liable only for breach of essential contractual obligations (cardinal obligations); in that case liability is limited to the foreseeable damage typical for the contract. These limitations also apply to our legal representatives, employees and agents, insofar as permitted by law. Mandatory statutory liability remains unaffected.
11. Privacy
We process personal data as described in our privacy policy.
12. Final provisions
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Towards consumers, this choice of law applies only insofar as it does not deprive them of the protection of mandatory provisions of the country of their habitual residence. If the buyer is a merchant, a legal entity under public law or a special fund under public law, Munich is the exclusive place of jurisdiction for all disputes arising from the contract. We are neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board. Should individual provisions be or become invalid in whole or in part, the remaining provisions remain unaffected; the statutory provisions apply in place of the invalid ones.
